Amazing Chinese Characters (691) Long Time - 久

The big seal script of character Long Time is

The top is character Dragger -匕 (Post 453) reversed, 

Which means a Moving Person, so 

is character Compete (Post 162). Why does it mean Dragger? It is explained in Post 453, right now in book 《Learn Chinese from Pictography》（4）on Amazon. I don't discuss here.

The long line or stroke in the bottom is an acupuncture needle. Therefore, character Long time is acupuncture needle, but it is not the same needle as we see today, but "stone needles" as below

or bone needles, even bamboo needles. 

People used them to pressure the certain acupuncture point. Because it could not penetrate into body, only on the surface, the "doctor" has to hold the "needle" for 10 - 20 mins without moving, which made people feel very long time to pass. 

The small seal script of character Long Time is

Similar to big seal script.

The clerical script of character Long Time is

Similar in structure to older scripts, but the falling right stroke is not like needle any more.

The Pinyin of the character is Jiu3.
